The Russian pianist,Sofya Gulyak is our affiliated artist for 2012/13. She became the first woman to win the Leeds International Piano Competion in 2010.
Cristine MacKie, President of the London International Piano Symposium, and Jeanetta Laurence (Associate Director of the Royal Ballet, Royal Opera House, Covent Garden) have agreed to collaborate in exploring ways in which pianists may benefit by working with a top choreographer and a dancer(s) from the Royal Ballet.

Examples of volunteering opportunities at the event itself include ushering and programmes, meet and greet, welcome of guest participants, registration. LIPS hopes to be able to offer volunteers free attendance at part of the symposium. In advance of the symposium, roles still available include: social media work, communication with The Friends, and more. LIPS would hope to offer a gesture of thanks in the form of tickets to volunteers if possible.
